Mopeds
Mopeds are the fun, fuel efficient way to get wherever you need to go. They are street legal and gas powered, as well as quick and compact.
Good looks
Mopeds have refined curves and sleek styling. You won’t believe the color choices—from frosted shades like pink and champagne to electric silver, and on to bright and bold red, blue, or yellow with silver stripes.
The essentials
Mopeds come complete with front disc rear drum brake systems, or with drum brakes on both front and rear. The motors are usually around 49cc, but differ between a 4-stroke engine and 2-stroke oil injected engine (4-stroke engines do not require fuel-and-oil mixing). Mopeds have weight capacities between 200 and 300 pounds. And here’s some nice news for your pocketbook: mopeds are incredibly fuel efficient, some getting up to 80 MPG.
Features for safety and convenience
Fully-equipped mopeds may include many different features to enhance comfort and performance, and increase safety. Dual adjustable rearview mirrors keep you aware of your surroundings, while turn signals let other motorists anticipate your actions. Headlights allow you mobility after sunset and, along with taillights, also serve to make you more visible. Most well-equipped mopeds include a kickstand, horn, odometer, speedometer, and an electric start (some include a keyed ignition switch). Some mopeds have storage compartments under the seat, or an optional trunk compartment for hauling essential gear, or for safely stashing your helmet between rides.
The advantages of mopeds
Because mopeds are light and sleek, they are much more fuel efficient than most motorcycles. Mopeds are legal for use on the road, and therefore require licensing and insurance; but, classifications for mopeds can cost less than those for motorcycles. To meet certain requirements for a number of states, some mopeds have adjustable speeds. Because mopeds are street legal, operators should be at least 16 years-old.
